HEADLINES:

The Atlanta Region hosted a Mass for the Anointing of the Sick on February 10 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in celebration of World Day of Prayer for the Sick. The principal celebrant was Archbishop Wilton Gregory, a Malta Chaplain, joined by Monsignor Dillon and Father Paul Burke, who are both Chaplains, along with several other priests and deacons of the archdiocese. Knights, Dames and Members of the Auxiliary of the Atlanta Region participated, along with malades and their companions from previous Lourdes trips, as well as the sick from many parishes.

Region members implemented an outreach plan to both the Catholic and general communities to spread the word about the celebration. This included communication with twenty- two assisted living/retirement communities and four area hospital pastoral care offices. The archdiocesan newspaper and numerous parish bulletins publicized the event. A local television station had a reporter and camera crew present to film the Mass, and air an interview with Archbishop Gregory in celebration of Black History Month.

The Region hosted a reception afterwards for all those in attendance.
