Jacksonville Hosts Votive Mass of Our Lady of Lourdes

On February 7, the Jacksonville Region, joined by members of the American Association, hosted a Votive Mass of Our Lady of Lourdes with the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at San Jose Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

The liturgy began with a prelude of sacred music performed by the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church choir, setting a reverent tone for the celebration. Malades, along with their families and friends, joined attendees from several local parishes, as well as residents of Hurley Manor and San Jose Manor senior living communities, for an estimated attendance of more than 600 faithful.

The Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Remek Blaszkowski, pastor of San Jose Catholic Church, with five additional priests. Deacon Peter Watry delivered a deeply moving homily reflecting on his experience as a malade during the 2025 Lourdes pilgrimage.

This annual spiritual exercise was initiated by Jefferson Edwards, MD, KM, who continues to serve as its primary coordinator, faithfully guiding this meaningful ministry for the Jacksonville Region.
