Medical Instruments Donated to Vatican First Aid Post

On the occasion of the Jubilee Year, and through the generosity of Dr. Tim Laird, KM, the Federal Association donated medical instruments to the first aid post of the Order of Malta in St. Peter’s Square, Vatican.

A ceremony acknowledging the gift took place in the church of the Governorate of Vatican City State at the conclusion of the Holy Mass on Ash Wednesday. The gift was presented by Dr. Domenico Musso, KM, on behalf of the Federal Association in the presence of H.E. Clemente Riva di Sanseverino, GCHDOb, member of the Sovereign Council; H.E. Msgr. Andrea Ripa, Conventual Chaplain Grand Cross ad honorem of the Order and Secretary of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura; and Professor Domenico Sabatini, Ambassador of the Order to Armenia and Coordinator of Jubilee Volunteer Services in the Basilicas for the Order of Malta.

The donated items include a high-quality German ophthalmoscope and otoscope kit, as well as two precision tweezers for detailed care, such as the safe removal of splinters. These instruments will strengthen the continuing mission of providing professional and compassionate medical assistance to pilgrims from around the world.

This donation reflects not only material support, but also a shared commitment to preparedness and compassionate presence. During the Jubilee Year, members of the Federal Association also served pilgrims at first aid posts in Rome’s four Papal Basilicas, embodying the Order’s mission to defend the faith and serve those in need. For those who served, the Jubilee was a powerful reminder that the Order’s mission continues to be lived through hands-on service, fraternity, and quiet acts of mercy at the heart of the Church.
