Lancaster Commemorates Its Dead
On November 3, the Lancaster Region held its 5th Annual Mass of Remembrance for deceased malades and deceased region members at their spiritual home, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Guests included Lourdes pilgrims, malade families and friends, and Lancaster Region members.
The Very Reverend Allan F. Wolfe, V.F., magistral chaplain, celebrated Mass featuring a candle-lighting ceremony for the deceased during the Prayer of the Faithful.
Since 2009, the Lancaster Region has hosted 45 malades on Lourdes pilgrimages. Of these, 24 malades and seven region members have passed away. More than 40 people attended the Mass, followed by a reception to foster fellowship. Family members were invited to take their loved one's candle home and use it as a focus for prayer.
