The Real Presence: An Invitation to the New Evangelization and Charisms of our Order

Knights and Dames of the Order strive to live out our charisms of “defense of the faith” and “care of the sick and the poor” which are sometimes manifested in ways not readily thought of.

In this golden age of Catholic information and media, new and exciting ways to illustrate the truths of the faith have become not just something “for others” but also gifts to strengthen  convictions and provide fertile soil for the spiritual renewal of committed Catholics found in the ranks of the Order.  Sometimes these tools can create a pathway between intellectual assent to the one, true,Catholic and apostolic faith and our hearts…the place of decision where Christ meets us.

The Real Presence, a video produced by Joseph Helow and Barton Productions provides a unique opportunity to embrace not only the New Evangelization popularized by Saint John Paul II but also our charisms, with particular attention to defense of the faith and our own poverty of understanding in this secular age.  The Real Presence affords Knights and Dames a chance to examine our comprehension of the Holy Mass in light of our call to Christian excellence as members of a lay religious order.  It presents what we believe we “already know” with a mystical overlay that is sometimes lost due to habit, distraction or  a need to fully embrace the true presence in the Holy Eucharist.  Furthermore, it presents an opportunity to evangelize “our own” as the New Evangelization prescribes.  This evangelization includes those within the Order as well as those throughout the global Church.  If we believe we “already know” everything contained in The Real Presence production, we can ask our Lord how we can go deeper because that is surely possible no matter our vocation.  With regard to defense of the faith, The Real Presence can be an indispensable tool that “shows” what we so often “describe” when trying to convey what happens when Heaven and earth meet at Mass! It demonstrates how time stands still in this convergence of the Heavenly and earthly liturgy where we are joined by the Saints and angels.  It brings to life what Sacred Art has so beautifully portrayed up and down the centuries.
